A budget-friendly option across the street from Afters at The Irish Pub. Nice enough to get the job done and walking distance to shenanigans...it's a win/win really.
They do seem to exclusively take photos of their hotel on dreary, overcast days, which feels like an unusual choice.
Rooms here will be less than $100/night with our tournament rate.
A more upscale option half way between the fields and The Irish Pub. All the rooms open up to an interior courtyard with a cafe. As one of the online reviews says, "the kids kept calling it 'classy'". So be like the kids and get into something moderately bougie.
Rooms here will be $144/night with our tournament rate. Also, they offer free made-to-order breakfast and a complimentary evening reception with an open bar and light snacks. Almost makes me want to book a room there for the tournament, even though I already live in Greenville!
All of the tournament facilities are very close together this year. The fields are about a 12 minute drive from The Irish Pub, and both of the hotels are along the route between the two. And if you want to head into downtown Greenville to see some lights strung up in trees in a month not named December, you're only a few minutes from that too!
There's a waterfall downtown as well, so that's not too bad.

As always, this is difficult to lay out in advance, but our goal is to field a competition with games that are as close to full-sided and full length as possible, while still maintaining an enjoyable schedule and amount of playing time for each team.
At the same time, we want the GVL Cup to be a platform for all gaelic sports and to foster those that have less participating teams or are still in the developmental stages throughout the region. We feel that camogie in the Southeast (and specifically over the last 4 years at the GVL Cup) is a great example of how providing an experience to play competitive games allows an event and a sport to flourish and grow year after year.
We will set up a competition committee immediately upon registration of each team in each code to discuss the format for the day, and then we'll tailor the field dimensions and player numbers to match. Ladies football may end up being 7v7 on a smaller pitch while hurling will almost definitely be 11v11 on as big a field as we can mark out, but we want to accommodate each sport as well as possible.
As teams register, competition committees make decisions, and the field numbers are finalized, we will post a schedule of events here in this section of the page. Get those registrations in soon so we can get started on figuring out those details please!
If you need a modification of the rulesets listed above (Junior C for hurling and both football codes, Junior A for Camogie) or you don't have a full team to hit the player counts listed, please still reach out and express interest and we'll see what we can do to adjust the format or combine groups of players.
